Bauhaus of the Seas Sails returns to the NEB Festival 2026 in Brussels
Following its presence at the 2024 edition of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Festival, Bauhaus of the Seas Sails will once again join the festival this June 2026 with an expanded programme featuring a week-long interactive booth and two dedicated workshops exploring circular coastal innovation, resilience, and territorial transformation of the NEB.
Visitors are warmly invited to discover the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails stand throughout the festival week and engage with the stories “From the Tagus to the Tile” by Fahrenheit.works. Developed as an original case study within the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails’ Blue Makerspace drop, the installation reinterprets Lisbon’s iconic azulejo tiles through innovative biomaterials made from oyster shells and seaweed-based pigments.
Presented in an interactive and hands-on format, the stand encourages visitors to touch, experiment, and explore the materials, prototypes, and creative processes behind the project. The experience will demonstrate how marine resources and circular design principles can inspire new interpretations of cultural heritage while supporting sustainable and regenerative practices.
The stand will be complemented by same named workshop “Bauhaus of the Seas Sails: From the Tagus to the Tile”, taking place on Thursday, 11 June 2026, from 13:00 to 14:00 (CEST) under the theme “Coastal community resilience and sustainability”. The session will offer participants the opportunity to engage directly with Fahrenheit.works and members of the consortium from the Lisbon pilot to further explore the tools, materials, and ideas behind the “From Tagus to the Tile” project.

On Friday, 12 June 2026, from 14:15 to 15:15 (CEST), Bauhaus of the Seas Sails will also be part of a broader session “NEB Lighthouses: Mapping Impact Across Systems & Places”, bringing together the first six New European Bauhaus lighthouse demonstrators. As some of the pioneering projects launched under the NEB initiative, the lighthouse demonstrators will collectively reflect on their role in shaping methodologies, testing place-based innovation, and generating long-term territorial impact across Europe. The session will explore how these large-scale experiments have acted as catalysts for systemic change while sharing transferable lessons and replicable approaches for cities and regions.
As one of the original NEB Lighthouse demonstrators, Bauhaus of the Seas Sails continues to showcase how coastal communities, creative practices, and circular design can work together to build more sustainable, inclusive, and beautiful futures rooted in local ecosystems and identities.
We look forward to welcoming visitors, collaborators, and fellow changemakers at the NEB Festival 2026 from 9-13 June 2026 in Brussels.
