Bauhaus of the Seas Sails Quarterly Meeting

The morning meeting was opened by José Luis de Vicente, Director of Museu del Disseny. As curator of the Ocean Speaks exhibition, José also gave a virtual tour of the main elements of the temporary exhibition.

The next point on the agenda was the presentation of the works of the Oeiras Pilot including a discussion between the Bauhaus Seas’ artist in residence Francisca Rocha Gonçalves, artist Ersin Han Ersin and José Luis de Vicente.

The Ocean Speaks

In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to experience a guided tour of “The Ocean Speaks” exhibition led by Jose Luis de Vicente, Director of Museu del Disseny. The Bauhaus of the Seas Sails partners were joined by the researchers from  Organismo, TBA21’s experimental programme of independent studies that connects research, theory and speculation through a series of case studies, regenerative interventions that explore different forms of alliance.

Barcelona’s opening to the sea was one of the major structural changes that redefined the city in the 1990s. Now, the climate crisis is making us re-evaluate its relationship with the sea and the ecosystems it includes. The Ocean Speaks exhibition addresses this issue in an interdisciplinary way, covering architecture, technology, speculative design and urban planning, all of them disciplines that are capable of suggesting new approaches to the major challenges society is facing.
