New article on Zoöp Futures published in Futures Journal

A new Bauhaus of the Seas Sails article titled “Zoöp Futures: towards an organisational framework for ecological cooperation between humans and more-than-humans” has been published in the Futures Journal publication.

This work comes out as a result of a collaboration between the Nieuwe Instituut, Malmö University and Instituto Superior Técnico and Interactive Technologies Institute on how organizations should change to foster regenerative relationships
between humans and nonhumans. The paper examines critical aspects of foresight and strategic planning in Zoöp, a practice-based organizational model that builds on participatory futures, including multispecies’ interests into organisations.

The work further provides insights into the novel frameworks for integrating diverse perspectives in futures thinking as well as evidence-based strategies for translating foresight into actionable planning. It also elaborates on methods to balance short-term demands with long-term vision of the Zoöp.

This work represents a collaborative effort from our partners Cristiano Pedroso-Roussado, Klaas Kuitenbrouwer, Vera Gebhardt Fearns , Mariana Pestana, Valentina Nisi, Ann Light, and Nuno Nunes, and builds upon foundational research in the field of futures studies and the Bauhaus of the Seas project where the Zoöp model was applied in seven European cities – Lisbon, Venice, Oeiras, Malmø, Rotterdam, and Hamburg.
