New European Bauhaus – where are we heading? on 10 September at BLOXHUB

The event New European Bauhaus – Where Are We Heading? will take place on September 10, 2025, from 15:00–18:30 at BLOXHUB in Copenhagen and will also be live-streamed for a broader audience.

Organised by BLOXHUB, the coordinator of Desire – one of the NEB lighthouses projects – in collaboration with partners from the New European Bauhaus network, the event aims to reflect on the initiative’s impact five years after its launch, assess its relevance, and explore opportunities for future development in Europe’s built environment, addressing challenges such as resource overconsumption, affordable housing shortages, and underutilized buildings.

The programme will include keynote presentations by Michela Magas and Kent Martinussen, a fireside panel with leaders from architectural firms SLA and Schønherr, and reflections from NEB lighthouse projects, followed by an informal networking session.

The event will feature a workshop by Bauhaus of the Seas Sails: The Ocean Starts Here: More-than-Human Co-Design for Living with the Sea, led by our partner Anna Seravalli from Malmö University. This session wil introduce the co-design approach developed as part of the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails project to promote regenerative ocean cultures, focusing on how we encounter seas and waterways, the challenges of adopting more-than-human approaches, and the importance of engaging our senses and emotions. The workshop builds on the Ocean Ambassadors Compass developed withing the project.

The event targets professionals and enthusiasts in architecture, urban planning, sustainability, and design, including urban planners, policymakers, researchers, community organizations, and students, providing a platform for knowledge exchange, discussion, and collaboration across sectors.
